The DBSC Grounds Rules (as of 7th August 2007) Grounds rules 1. Out-with the sailing season Yachts may park to the East of the trees in the long stretch of the East Boat Park. 2. Members who would like to keep their dinghies on the grounds out-with the sailing season should park and secure them to the ground in the upper Dinghy Park. 3. During the sailing season all yachts should vacate the boat parks for dinghies. 4. Tenders and small row boats may be stored on the grounds in a position allocated by the Harbour Master OR Keelboat rep. 5. All equipment must be identified so that the Harbour Master knows who owns it, especially trailers and loose accessories. 6. Where boats are not kept on their trailers, trailer parking will be at the North East corner of the grounds. 7. Equipment which has been left unidentified will be placed at the back of the lower car park. After a period of three months it will become the property of DBSC, to be disposed in a way in which the Management Committee sees fit. Notification of items for disposal will be in the Club Newsletter. 8. Equipment / boats may be moved around the club grounds by the Harbour Master for reasons that require short term relocation. However, the owners are responsible for their property at all times. Notification of moves is not always possible. 9. Owners must keep rigging noise to a minimum. The most frequent complaint from our neighbours is to the annoyance caused by the rigging rattling against the mast in windy conditions. This applies whether boats are afloat or ashore. Every keelboat and dinghy owner must ensure that their running rigging is fixed well clear of the mast. The best way of doing this is by clipping halyard ends to the lifelines or some distant part of the hull. Any boat found to be a source of noise will have its rigging secured by a committee member. The owner will be expected to emburse the sailing club. A fee of £5 will be charged. 10. No person shall carry out work for personal or commercial gain on Club grounds without prior written approval of the Management Committee. If (a) any member intends to do any work on the grounds that could conceivably have Health & Safety issues, or (b) if any member intends to make use of any Club resource in such a way as could reasonably be interpreted as being “abnormal”, the member shall complete an “Authorisation to do work on the Clubs Ground” Form (such Form as being available in the Clubhouse or here), and shall submit same to the Rear Commodore (Shore), failing whom the Vice Commodore, failing whom the Commodore. In the event that potential Health & Safety issues are involved, the Club may require an Assessment be carried out, and the member doing the work will require at all times to be able to show that the terms of the Assessment have been complied with, and the member may also need to prove that adequate insurance is in place by providing a photocopy of the relevant insurance policy. In the event of the member intending to make “abnormal” use of the Clubs resources (in terms of (b) above) then an Assessment of the extent of such resources shall be carried out and the member may be required to pay for such resources in advance. It should be noted that the “Authorisation to do work on the Clubs Ground” Form contains an expiry date, and if the members intended activity over shoots the expiry date, then the member will be required to re-apply for authorisation by submitting a fresh Form, and Assessments may require to be repeated. |
